How it works

One address in, a standard address out. By API, one address at a time or a list in one request.

1

You send an address

  • A street, a city, a state and a ZIP
  • A list of addresses in one request
  • Each address counts as one billable request
A messy address feeds a hub that returns Phoenix, AZ 85004-2315, Maricopa County, Vacant: No and a carrier route.
2

We standardize it

  • BatchData normalizes the address to USPS conventions
  • It adds the ZIP+4, the county and the carrier route
  • It adds a delivery point match code and a time zone

3

You get the coordinates and a hash

  • The result has latitude and longitude
  • The address hash identifies the address
  • The hash finds the property record in a later lookup

Address verification FAQ

How do I verify a US address by API?

Send the street, city, state and ZIP to the BatchData Address Verification endpoint. BatchData returns the address in USPS form, with the ZIP+4, the county, the coordinates and an address hash. Each address in the request counts as one billable request.

How do I check an address before I mail it?

Send the address to BatchData Address Verification, and read its delivery point match code and footnotes before you mail. BatchData returns the code and the footnotes with each result, and the USPS defines what the codes mean. The response also shows whether BatchData normalized the address and made its hash.

Can I add coordinates to a list of addresses in one request?

Yes, BatchData Address Verification takes a list of addresses in one request, and each result carries latitude and longitude. Each address counts as one billable request. The result also returns the county, the county FIPS code and the address hash with the coordinates.

How do I standardize an address a user picks from a form?

Pass the address your user picks to BatchData Address Verification, and it returns the standard form and the address hash. Address Autocomplete suggests addresses as users type, and Address Verification standardizes the one the user picks. Each address you verify counts as one billable request.

How do I find the address for a latitude and longitude?

Send the latitude and longitude to the BatchData Reverse Geocode endpoint, and it returns the nearest addresses to that point. Address & Geocode Data lists the fields of each match. Use this when you have a map point or a GPS reading and need the street address behind it.

How much does address verification cost?

BatchData offers pay-as-you-go pricing, and each address in a request counts as one billable request. A list sent in one request still bills one request for each address. Ask a data expert for the price per address on your plan, or see the pricing page.
